Our Season Of Racing

On our trip home from Phoenix, we were doing some reminiscing.

By we, I am speaking of Kieth and Ashly Ruf, Terrie and Jordan Tieman, and myself  Little John.

We make up the St. Louis chapter of Big Dicks Halfway Inn Motorsports ¼ mile drag boat racing team.

We have a boat in the Pro Mod class  (approx 174 mph in  7 seconds).

The boat that Keith and I maintain is in the Top Eliminator class  (approx130 mph in 9 seconds).

Our season has now ended, but some of the things we went through may be of interest.

We have just returned from the World Finals in Phoenix Arizona.

There were a total of 215 boats,

There were approx 80 boats in our class.

Ashly tells this story best.

In this trip alone:

§         6 days of 12 hours each day                                               Tiring

§         Over 50 gal. of alcohol in our boat only                               Expensive

§         Motel, Entry Fee, Food, act.                                               Frustrating

§         All this for a total of about 80 seconds of actual racing         Nerve racking

§         Winning in The World Finals                                               PRICLESS

In our team, we have two people from Kansas

Two people from Lake Ozarks

And us from St Louis

We have traveled about 18,000 miles this year.

I think we were in about 15 races, in I don’t know how many states.

We are sincerely appreciative of our many sponsors for this year. That is the only way we can do this.  To make our plans work for the next year, we are going to need more, either personal or corporate.  These plans are as follow:

§         We have purchased two FORD HEMI motors for the Pro Mod boat.

§         Our Top Eliminator boat is fine, leave it alone.

§         Kieth Ruf will be driving a third boat that we are setting up for the Modified Eliminator class. ( this boat will run about 110 mph in 10 seconds)

§         Ashly Ruf will be driving in the PWC ( a class set up for wave runners and new drivers).

§         Our semi will be at Little Johns in St Charles for a portion of the winter for detail and farther enhancement.

Anyone that would like to see our equipment is welcome to stop by.

Again, if anyone has any names, thoughts, or ideas on further sponsorship, please contact us.
