U.S. Waterways

Issues With Aging Inland Waterway Infrastructure........

It is likely that new waterways legislation that addresses some of the inadequacies of the current system will be finalized soon.  This is the first new waterways legislation since 2007.  A larger problem will remain, however, in funding.  The infrastructure of the U.S. inland waterways is old, and renovations and improvements have been delayed.  If the infrastructure breaks down, there could be disruptions in the supply chain, and the U.S. could become less competitive. in the global export market........

Picture of the Day .........

Hey Bill,

St. Somewhere has been commandeered (sold) by Captain Dave and is scallywag crew-first mate Cindy, swabby-first class Ben and new river dog Daisy.(actually Daisy may be the captain?) Kim and I only cried for a few hours. But, we take great comfort in knowing she's will be taken good care of by her new river family. If you see them out give them a river pirate salute.

We will introduce you soon. They are great people. Here is what they sent us from last weekend. Not too many of them left. Enjoy while you can, and endure when you must! If you see us on the river bank with your thumbs out, will you pick us up?

Dear everyone,

My dog has hijacked the boat and is holding me hostage. In this picture she is forcing me to smile and making it look like I am having fun and on this trip on my own free will. You can't see it because of my sunglasses but, I am blinking out S.O.S. because, we only have 5 beers, 23 bucks, a bag of Cheetos and a ham sandwich left.

From what I can tell, we are apparently headed down the Mississippi to the Caribbean.  As you can surely imagine,  I will really, really, really miss you. Please have the Coast Guard airdrop in more of the above mentioned supplies. Advise them to hold off any attempt to save me though just yet. I will get back to you soon.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...... I might be a little late getting to work.  This dog is forcing me to stop at the next town and load a bunch of rum and pineapple juice on the boat all by myself. Damn those mean pirate dogs.

Donate all my stuff to someone.

News Release From BoatUS

"Oops Assurance Guarantee": BoatUS Boat Graphics Knows We All Make Mistakes

ALEXANDRIA, Va., November 6, 2013 -- We all make mistakes. That's why boaters designing their own boat names online with the BoatUS Boat Graphics and Lettering service get a 30-day “Oops Assurance Guarantee” on all graphics. The Guarantee takes the pain away when mistakes happen while putting graphics on the boat, or the wrong size or color is ordered.

“Boat owners can easily design their own boat name for free at BoatUS.com/graphics,” said BoatUS Boat Graphics Manager Greg Edge. “However, we know after the order arrives that sometimes the installation doesn’t go as planned – the wind may catch the graphics, or they may get installed crooked,” added Edge. The Oops Assurance Guarantee allows boat lettering purchasers to replace any letters or graphics damaged during installation and BoatUS will ship the replacement decals free of charge. If for some reason you accidentally ordered the wrong size or color, they can be reordered at 50% off the new price and shipped for only $2.95.

Not only can you design and order your boat name, registration number, and hailing port through BoatUS, you can also request color samples and custom designs, and order boat striping and personalize floating keychains. Need some information or inspiration? View state registration requirements, installation guides, a 9,000+ boat names directory, and more all at www.BoatUS.com/graphics.
